#127. The Band - Music From Big Pink (1968)
Besides “The Weight,” I was totally unfamiliar with The Band so what better than their debut to start off with?
Well they were certainly different compared to everything else out at the time; they weren’t a psychedelic rock band…they were just a band (not meant to be a pun). Their style is kind of hard to define, but it’s like a mixture of country, folk, and just plain ol’ American rock. Funny thing is only one is American, the others are Canadian.
Now this album was really good, not my cup of tea, but really good. I’m sure if I listened to it at least 3 more times I’d love it…but I don’t have the patience for that. But really, it was a good album.

Also, little sidenote, the reason they are called The Band is because they used to be Bob Dylan’s back-up band and were known as “Bob Dylan & the Band” so when they left they kept the name.
3.5/5
